    Hi everyone,

I'm writing this after suffering an episode of hypoglycemia and waiting for my body to adjust after eating a snack. I am still in the hospital but going home later today finally. They kept me overnight to see how I would do with the medication readjuastment and so far, so good.

Long story short: due to several factors, my kidneys decided to just stop working. They went very acidic and my potassium level rose to a near-toxic level. I was pumped full of sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) via IV for several days. It worked, thankfully, and I am back to "normal", whatever that is...

I learned that kidneys will produce sodium bicarbonate if they are stressed out. I didn't know that. Just proves you always can learn something new!

My parents will be picking me up to take me home later today. I'm looking forward to getting back home and getting my little apartment ready for the upcoming holiday season. Already bought some nice Christmas cards (I am old-fashioned).

Good to hear! I too love the holiday season and doing some prep for it.
I don't decorate much, but I pack my DVR with holiday shows/movies.

    Hi Kevin,

I bought a pre-lit 3' tall Christmas tree that I Didn't put up last year but I will this year. Need to get more ornaments for it. Probably will hit up Hobby Lobby for those since HL has good sales. Might get a wreath to hang on my door also. I am a real sap for the holiday season; I always have been.

I am not so much a Halloween person though I do enjoy the fall/harvest season celebration.

I'm hoping to corral my parents, my sister, her boyfriend, and my nephew into my tiny apartment for Thanksgiving.

Christmas I usually spend alone either having a Christmas lunch (usually an oven-baked Stouffer's lasagna; a tradition I started in the Army) or, if I can get there, going to Waffle House for a Christmas lunch though if I am alone, I prefer to stay home.

New Year's Eve I'm at home watching TV with a pizza and snacks and nhanging out online. I do not go out on NYE anymore after losing my youngest stepsister to a drunk driver in 2003 and nearly losing my stepfather to a drunk driver later that same year.

I don't celebrate Valentine's Day. Instead, I celebrate Singles' Awareness Day. LOLOLOL

Nice, my first year after the divorce I got a nice artificial tree and
did it up nice, but after thing I was needing space, so these days I
don't put any tree up. I do have a "Charlie Brown" tree that I can put
up, but I haven't the last few years.

I am not so much a Halloween person though I do enjoy the fall/harvest season celebration.

I don't like Halloween it self, but I like the shows associated with
it. Not horror or scarey stuff, just the comedy stuff. And the candy
    corn is nice :)

Very Nice! I'll be heading to Austin to visit my parents and one sister
    is usually there as well.

That's a good idea, I usually spend Christmas alone too, especially
when it is in the middle of the week. I need to start a tradition like
that. I'll have to think of something I really enjoy.

Sorry to hear that, same here otherwise, I hate going out on NYE. I
usually get a cheese assortment and crackers and watch movies. And then
I am typically in bed by 9pm or so and sleep through the new year :P

There ya go! I am with you on that one.

I have friends who think I am weird for liking candy corn. What do they
    know?

I'm hoping to pull Thanksgiving off. Might be like pulling hen's teeth.

The lasagna started out of desperation and something that would be easy
to make and easy to clean up. Now it's just become a source of comfort
in a life full of change.

I have not been one to ring in NYE with a party since I got out of the
Army. The older I get, the more I avoid people.

There ya go! I am with you on that one.

February 15 is like November 1 for me: time to get some good candy at a
steep discount. I might get some for the deep freeze even.

I love it as well, and the pumpkins too. I've had to cut down on them,
but I buy a small back of each and spread it out over the month of
    Octobert.

Yup, sounds good too. I haven't had Lasagna in a while, so I might so
something like that myself. And get some frozen Texas Garlic Toast as
    well. Thanks for the idea!

Another good idea, maybe I can find some cheap chocolate covered
    strawberries! :)

I was looking at an online ad for Target and they're having a sale right
now on their Brach's "Autumn Mix" and candy corn. I was planning on
going there today via my scooter so might bet a bag of each.

Sure thing. Talking to you reminded me of that. :P

Hopefully the price on berries overall will drop by then...they aren't
    cheap. :(
